Just a quickie

Spotted this rather novel way of displaying my cake pops on my news feed, and thought I'd share. Am loving the football cake - so apt!

Hope you had a fab 24th, Jemma!

Cold outside, but I'm all warm inside :)

Well, it's been a relatively quiet week for me as I'm waiting for some more dairy-free chocolate for a couple of non-rush orders. I've been experimenting with egg-free (well, Vegan) cake for a little boy with life-threatening allergies, and coming up with new ideas for cake pops. Well, if we're honest I do that all the time - usually in bed instead of counting sheep!

I don't really have much to show you today in terms of new creations, but thought I'd share some pictures of peeps enjoying my wares, and a lovely recommendation that made me feel all warm and gooey inside.

Firstly, my own little bundles of joy (please excuse the terrible pic - my son is what can only be described as a 'blinker' and my daughter is flashing her nappy):

Seb & Lucie

And here is the lovely recommendation and the gorgeous little Fin:

I know Bianca has had LOADS of positive feedback for her amazing cake pops but I just have to add my endorsement!

Bianca made me some cake pops for my sons 2nd birthday which was this weekend.  He has a severe cows milk protein allergy (with anaphylaxis), and an intolerance to soya so we have to be careful what we feed him.  It's incredibly difficult to get cake etc for him and, what there is tends to be expensive.  So...Bianca made some beautiful cake pops for him and his little girlfriend Isabel on their joint birthday...and here are the results!

I'm sure you'll agree...one very happy little boy - and not even the tiniest speck of a reaction!   Oh...and we all had plenty as well and they are absolutely delicious...especially the choc-orange!  THANKS BIANCA!! Grin xxxx

Dairy/Soya-Free Pops! (note: not the bright blue one)

Before

After - one happy little chappy (and no epi-pen needed - PHEW!)

Saturday Shenanigans

Well, these are officially for my friend Tracey who is struggling with her daughter's potty training at the moment, but seeing as Charley 'froze her knickers off' at the train station this morning, thought I'd share them.

Any suggestion on how to make the potty, well more potty-like? I was thinking without the addition of, well, #1 or #2!

Friday Night Tomfoolery

*stifles giggle*

Made this for my friend Nell - she had chronic toothache last week and had to have her wisdom tooth removed due to a massive cavity:

And this one is just another way to 'say it with cake'! Okay, so at the moment it's just 'f' but think of the possibilities! And who doesn't love Scrabble?!

Trains, trains, and err... football shirts?

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as 'Planes, Trains and Automobiles', does it? Ah well, you win some, you lose some.

So, a few orders this week - locomotives, football shirts and two big party orders for this weekend. First up - the shirts. Was a bit worried about the colour of the West Ham shirts, I have to say that it's *really* hard to make maroon from candy melts and food colouring without it going more brown than red. I'm hoping the result isn't too far off reality. The football shirts were part of a larger order, but I won't post it in its entirety in case the recipient-to-be stumbles across this blog via her sister's Facebook page (well, a girl can dream, can't she?).

Next up are the trains. Now these weren't for a firm order, it was just prototypes for a phone enquiry I received this week. There are quite a few bits I'm going to tweak for the final product - I don't like the size of the windows on the locomotive, for example, but I thought I'd give you a sneak peek seeing as you've taken the time to come and visit:

Yeah, yeah - I know. The roof is a bit wonky on the second carriage, and the windows could be better, but still. For a first attempt it's not so bad. And once I've got the shape and design down pat, should be able to tweak to make them look like Thomas! Now that would be cute!

As for the party orders, well, they're my project for this evening so no photos as yet. I'm sure I'll have a few more to share with you tomorrow - MY WHITE CANDY MELTS HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED!!!

Happy weekend, pop fans!

Retro Geek Chic! Well, cake pops...

As some of you may know, my husband's name is Pac and almost all of my friends are geeks. Therefore, retro cake pops were inevitable. I got all fired up and in a flurry of excitement created these beauties. I tried to take decent photos of them but I'm useless at photography so had to sprint over to my lovely next door neighbour's house to beg for his assistance. Thankfully he was happy to oblige and so (after a bit of tweaking by the lovely Jim Bob and Nell) I'm proud to present today's creations:

Waca waca waca! Was it worth melting half a bag of blue candy melts just for one cake pop? In this instance, most definitely!

And seriously, who doesn't need a power-up at kids parties?! 20 seconds of invincibility will come in very handy indeed on that Bouncy Castle:

Hoping that these will be a popular range at £1.75 each. If not, not to worry. I have a very happy husband now he's been cake popped.

Happy weekend, folks!

Legohead Cake Pops!

Ooooh - two posts in one day, lucky you! This one is short and sweet though. A friend asked if I'd post about the Lego pops and I can only oblige, so WA-LAH*!

*before my Belgian friends and in-laws go crazy, I am indeed aware that the correct spelling is 'voila' ;)

Shrek Cake Pops - Om nom nom!

I was commissioned to make some Shrek cake pops for a friend last week, and thought I'd share the results with you. These were definitely some of the fiddliest to make - after glueing M&Ms to jellybeans to make Shrek ears, I spent an hour or two drawing and cutting out smiles and eyes from ricepaper.

The Gingerbread Man (Gingy) ones were a particular challenge - their cuffs, belts, eyebrows and mouths were all fondant (argh - that dreaded 'f' word again!) not to mention that the candy coating dries quickly so you've got to work fast!

Maybe it's time for me to start working with proper piping icing. I mean, past forays into piping bags have usually ended with me covering my hands in chocolate a la Lady Macbeth (What, will these hands ne'er be clean?) not to mention the kitchen surfaces and floor, but perhaps now is the moment. Although I would prefer that my cake pops didn't end up on Cake Wrecks (unless of course they were featured on their Sunday Sweets which is fine by me!) so might keep the fondant on hand, just in case.

Anyway, I digress (this tends to be a running theme with me) so here are the results of my Gingy and Shrek cake pops:

Well, they seemed to go down very well with the client, who left me glowing praise on my FB status, so all's well that ends well.

Hmmm... thinking about it - might have a couple of those Gingy ones still in my tin of tester pops (like tester pots - geddit?!) and spares. OM NOM NOM!

Salutations from the Cake Pop Princess

Hello Pop fans!

Greetings from me, Bianca, the Cake Pop Princess. I make delicious little cake truffle lollipops and post them to people. After I've eaten a few tester Pops to make sure they're all up to scratch, of course.

This weekend was a busy one for me. I had some last minute commissions after people had seen my latest creations on my Facebook page and set about planning how I could possibly make Ben 10 into cake pop form. Hmmm.... their shape doesn't immediately lend itself to cake poppery, so I decided to go down the fondant road (which, as we all know, is heavily pot-holed and fraught with danger for amateur cake-decorators). Three hours later, and with a nasty indent on my hand from wielding my scalpel, this is what I was left with:

A few Candy Melts later (and a wasted trip to town for edible glue, but I digress) I was left with these:

Actually, I was pretty damn pleased with how they turned out. But looking at that pic makes me think I need to rethink my photo display technique. Much happier with the pics of my new Sakura (blossom) Pops and Number pops - my other rush orders for this weekend:

Sakura Cake Pops

Much prettier, no? Now I must away to find myself some of that straw stuff in red...
